Offering a stunning view of the Roman skyline, Janiculum is the tallest hill in Rome. It was the site of an 1849 battle where the forces of Garibaldi held off attacking French troops. Now there is a lovely and romantic public park with monuments to Garibaldi and his wife, offering a far more peaceful atmosphere. Bring a picnic or buy lunch at a restaurant near the statue... and remember your camera!
