Definitely off the beaten track (as far as classic museums go), the Palais de Tokyo offers a stunning view into the contemporary artist's mind, in a groovy setting that's both beautiful (from the outside) and disturbing (raw and industrial on the inside). They have a fantastic gift shop which sells unique Japanese items and other interesting tidbits. This museum is open late so it's the perfect place to walk off dinner, before going dancing.
