The Village Vanguard is a small, very old jazz club that's hosted many musical giants from Leadbelly to John Coltrane to Wynton Marsalis. Fresh talent, as well as "name performers" can be heard in this fabled Greenwich Village basement seven days a week. There's no food and the service is not great but it's totally worth going to if you really love jazz.
