Tacheles (Yiddish name meaning 'disclose') used to be an old Jewish department store before the War. It was bombed out and pretty much nothing was happening here until the fall of the wall. Then, a number of artists turned it into a Cafe/Bar on the ground floor and studios, cinemas and workshops on all the other floors. At the very least visit Cafe Zapata; where you can meet the people of Tacheles that are creative, vibrant, honest and cutting edge in every sense of the word.
